Atlanta is the largest city in the state, and is the capital. One of the fastest-growing states in the United States, Georgia’s population increased almost 1,000,000 from 2000 to 2005. The State of Georgia is found in the Southeastern United States. Georgia is commonly known as the Peach State, as well as the Empire State of the South. In 1733, Georgia was the last of the Thirteen Colonies to be established as a colony. Georgia seceded from the Union in 1788 to become one of the seven original Confederate states, and then was the last state readmitted to the Union in 1870.

Career Ideas
Searching for ideas for an ideal career? Here are some careers to consider:

Accounting Careers - Employment as an accountant or an auditor can be an exciting and profitable occupation. With so many opportunities available, an individual interested in accounting is sure to find his niche. Accountants offer their range of services to private individuals, small businesses, large firms, or the government. A better understanding of the four accounting fields will allow a person to choose the field that best suits his needs and abilities.

Many agricultural scientists work in the field of food science. Responsibilities might include new methods for packaging, storing, and delivering foods, determining food content (such as sugars, fats, etc.), inspecting processing plants, or enforcing government regulations. Their backgrounds in chemistry, physics, and biology are all important tools in carrying out these tasks.

Diagnostic medical sonographers train in hospitals, trade or vocational schools, colleges or universities, and the Armed Forces. Most programs prefer candidates with a strong math and science high school background.

Technical, vocational, and community colleges offer programs in medical assistance. Most employers prefer a new hire to have a degree or certificate from one of these programs.

A large number of vocational schools, community colleges, and e-distance learning colleges offer programs in medical transcription. A one-year certification program or a two-year associate degree program is available.
