Maine is commonly known as the Pine Tree State because of most of the land is forested. The state of Maine is the most lightly populated state found east of the Mississippi River. There are some areas found in the interior forested areas that are uninhabited and aren’t even bound to the laws of any local area. Maine can be found in the northernmost part of the New England area. Maine is known for it’s beautiful scenery — its coastline is mostly rocky, with low-lying rolling mountains and lots of heavy forest areas. Maine is also known for its wonderful seafood dishes.
