According to the U.S. Census Bureau, as of August 2007, Maryland is considered the wealthiest state in the entire United States. Its average household income is $65,144. The state of Maryland is found on the Atlantic Coast in the Mid-Atlantic region of the U.S. The state has a history of being considered part of both the Northern and Southern parts of the U.S, since being a border state causes it to show characteristics of both regions. Maryland was the seventh state to approve the United States Constitution and has two official state names, the Old Line State and the Free State.
