Tech Schools
A Traditional college is not always the best choice for many people. For many people going to a tech school or college will be all they need in order to enter one of the many different careers in technical fields.
Technical colleges and tech schools may offer 2 or 4 year degree plans or they may offer semester based certificate programs. Depending on the career category some tech school programs may only be weeks or a few months long. For tech school programs less then 2 years you may be able to earn a certificate or a diploma. For tech schools with programs lasting 2 or more years you will most likely be earning an associate or bachelor degree. Depending on the type of tech schools you are searching for your results school choices could vary.
Years ago tech schools may have been considered a stepping stone to get into a four year college. That is not necessarily the case anymore as today many jobs require very specific skill sets that you can learn in a tech school. Once you have completed the program you may be ready to enter the workforce in an entry level position.
In today’s world tech schools now incorporate more project based learning and more hands on learning instead of just listening to an instructor or reading a book. Of course those elements of learning are still important but the hands on training and real world project based work helps you to learn the needed skill much better then by book or instruction based learning alone would provide.
Some locations have many different schools with different career programs such as auto tech, x-ray tech, pharmacy tech, surgical tech, and other vo-tech type programs. If the zipcode you enter above does not give you any results for tech schools then try browsing through the directory below. One reason why a search by zipcode may not bring back results is if tech schools in the zipcode range you enter are currently not accepting online requests. If this happens that does not mean the tech schools is not accepting student, they may still be. So search the directory below in that case.
It is amazing how things have changed over the years. Today technical school programs range from truly hands on blue color works such as an auto repair worker to more professional medical and computer related careers.
